The $1.5 trillion Omnibus Spending Bill that the House will vote on Wednesday includes a provision to expand diversity, equality and inclusion at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The legislative text of the $1.5 trillion Omnibus Bill was released Wednesday morning by House leaders; the House intends to pass it by Wednesday night.

Conservative lawmakers from the Republican Study Committee and Heritage Foundation have criticized the fact this bill will be voted upon less than 12 hours after being released to the public. This leaves them with little time to fully understand the contents of the bill.

Although lawmakers might be more focused on the larger items of the bill, there is one provision in the legislative text which could have a significant impact on the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

A section of the bill allows Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence to increase the workforce activity of that office in relation to “diversity and equality, inclusion, accessibility, or accessibility”.

Heritage Action for America sent a letter stating that legislators have limited time to read the massive bill.

The bill contains thousands of earmarks that were airdropped in the Omnibus without transparency or thorough screening.
