Short-Term Win as Biden Reinstates Largest Oil, Gas Lease Sale in American History

Joe Biden has reinstated the largest oil-and-gas lease sale in American history, in a surprise move that angers far-left and proponents of the “Green New Deal”.

Despite the fact that the fossil fuel industry was against a portion of the “Inflation Reduction Act”, Democrats passed green energy provisions. FOX Business spoke with Erik Milito, President of the National Ocean Industries Association.

There should not be any questions about the issuance of leases by Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 257… The legislation has been clear and obligatory. Congress has acted. The leases must be issued and the lawsuit must be dropped.

Frank Macchiarola (American Petroleum Institute senior vice-president of economics and policy, regulatory affairs) says that the decision made by the Biden administration was a wise one for the short term. However, it’s not the best strategy to address long-term energy requirements.

Macchiarola warns:

“While reinstituting Lease Sale 257 is a positive move forward for American energy leadership,” the legislation in its entirety fails to address America’s long-term fuel needs.

Although Biden, then-candidate, denied ever supporting the “Green New Deal”, in an attempt to appease the far left, Biden included a portion of the Green New Deal into the “Inflation Reduction Act,” which will include green energy provisions.

Raul Grijalva, Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee (D-AZ), stated:

“After the disastrous lease sale was rightfully canceled, the Biden administration had to make a clear decision.”

Grijalva asked why the Biden administration would “defend” the Trump administration’s climate denialism.

“Would they appeal and continue to support the previous administration’s climate denial and massive giveaways for the fossil fuel sector?” They could either accept the ruling and follow federal environmental law to seize the rare chance to align the Interior Department’s off-shore leasing program with climate science. The administration took the right decision, and it was a good one.

FOX Business reported that after the Biden administration canceled the sale of oil and gas leases amid high prices, FOX Business reported on FOX Business that the “Inflation Reduction Act”, which requires the Biden administration to hold three leases sales offshore it had previously canceled.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that only 35% of Americans are concerned about climate change, compared with 44% in August 2019.

The Democrats, particularly the far-left, will continue to claim that there are only eight years before the earth is destroyed by climate change. They should drive electric cars and put solar panels on their roofs. This will turn people away and shut them off. The Biden administration should collaborate with Macchiarola and Milito to increase oil production and drilling, especially at a time when gas prices remain high in certain areas. If the Biden administration is to pass their climate change agenda, they must first lower gas prices. They can’t give in to the far-left. They must continue to drill and get back to energy independence.
