Alec Baldwin thinks that Americans are misinformed about the most urgent problems in the world.
He explained this at a recent conference, saying that the reason is because they are uneducated, and have been led astray through mass media.
The actor of “Rust”, 66, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award this year at the Torino Film Festival, in northern Italy commented on the influence of media in reporting news.
“Television News in the United States Is a Business,” Baldwin told The Hollywood Reporter that they have to earn money. He continued, “There is a gap in the information available to Americans.”
He added, “Americans have a very poor understanding of reality. They don’t know what is really happening.” Climate change, Ukraine, and Israel… you name it, Americans are hungry for information on all of the major topics.
Baldwin also believes the film industry, which he has been involved in for many years, plays a significant role.
The film industry fills that vacuum. The independent film industry and the documentary film industries are both very important in the world. Narrative films are also important. If the filmmakers, buyers, studios, networks, and streamers are willing to take that route. They’re willing.
Baldwin, who won an Emmy Award in 2017 for portraying President Trump, also talked about the current political environment. Baldwin did not directly address Trump when asked about his fears and wishes for the country, now that Trump has returned to the Oval Office.
He said that the country faces many challenges. “The environment, plastics, permafrost, there are plastic molecules everywhere on the planet. “These are the real issues to be solved.”
He continued, “It is essential that every building has an alternative energy component.” “Every hospital and school, as well as airports, and government buildings, will need photovoltaic roof panels. We must make states work on alternative sources of energy. We will never be able to get rid of gas and oil. Imagine an ambulance or fire department vehicle that runs on electric power and needs to be recharged at a charging facility.
Baldwin also appeared in Italy in order to introduce the screening of “The Hunt for Red October” from 1990, in which he co-starred with Sean Connery.
