The American Parents Coalition, a conservative parents’ group, is urging the Trump administration to conduct an investigation into the YMCA. The organization is accused of ‘unlawful gender-based discrimination in its programs and policies.’
In a letter addressed to key figures within the Trump administration, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, the coalition alleged that the YMCA has enacted several initiatives that discriminate against individuals based on their biological sex. The group asserts that this violates Title IX, particularly given the YMCA’s receipt of over $600 million in government grants.

Reports indicate that one instance cited by the group involved a minor biological male who identifies as female sharing a cabin with minor girls during a Minnesota YMCA camp. Furthermore, the group pointed to a YMCA in New Jersey that adheres to what the coalition labels as ‘radical gender policies’, allowing access to locker rooms and bathrooms based on gender identity rather than biological sex.
Last week, the YMCA removed several web pages that outlined policies allowing boys who identify as girls to use female cabins, showers, and locker rooms. This was reported by the Daily Caller Foundation.
The YMCA, a long-standing institution within communities across the nation, is facing serious allegations that raise important questions about the balance between anti-discrimination policies and the interests of concerned parents. This matter warrants a close watch as it unfolds.
