Classified Files Found at Biden’s Former Private Office

According to the White House documents that were classified by the US Justice Department have been reviewed. They were discovered in the former office of President Joe Biden at a think tank.

Biden’s lawyer said that about 10 files were discovered in a locked box at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, in November.

The National Archives received the batch.

Donald Trump is under investigation for allegedly transferring classified documents to Florida while Biden was president.

Biden’s lawyer said they were related to his time in the vice-presidential position. It is unclear what documents they refer to, which classification level was involved or why they were there.

A source close to the situation told CBS News that the batch contained no nukes and was kept with unclassified papers in a folder.

Richard Sauber, President Biden’s special counsel, stated Monday in a statement to CBS that the files were discovered by Biden’s lawyers, who were clearing out office space just before the midterm elections.

Biden had office at the think tank from 2017 to 2020. It is located approximately one mile from The White House.

“Since the discovery of the documents, President’s personal attorneys have worked with the [National] Archives & the Department of Justice to ensure that any Obama Administration records are in the Archives’ possession in a proper manner,” stated Mr. Sauber. ”

He didn’t explain the reason the discovery took so long, even though it happened just before the midterm elections.

September was the time President Biden appeared on CBS to address a photo of documents that were found at Donald Trump’s Florida home, Mar-a-Lago.

“How can anyone be so reckless?” The president said.

Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday: “When will FBI raid the many homes of Joe Biden, and possibly the White House?”

Trump is under investigation for refusing 300 classified documents to Mar-a-Lago after leaving office. The National Archives provided tipping.

The Biden files were discovered just before the Justice Department said it would appoint a neutral lawyer to decide if Trump should face criminal charges over files at Trump’s club.

James Comer (Republican), is now the House Oversight Committee’s new chairman. Monday’s statement by Comer stated that the handling of and disclosure of the Biden documents raises questions about neutrality in the justice department.

Reporters asked him about his concerns regarding the DoJ’s two-tier justice process. This includes how they treat Republicans, Democrats, and the former president in comparison to the current president.

According to CBS News, John Lausch Jr. (Chicago US attorney) was asked by the Department of Justice to review the documents.

Adam Kinzinger, an ex-Republican congressman, speculated over CNN about how the investigation would end down to who was on the team that handled the documents. He wondered if they were there by accident.

The National Archives and the Penn Biden Center didn’t immediately respond to our request for comment.
