22-year-old, Laken Riley was found dead at the beginning of this month in Georgia.

Joe Borelli, a Republican Councilman from New York City with a great deal of knowledge on immigration claims that the murder committed by an illegal alien who was previously arrested in New York City is “directly” caused by the New York City laws that have severed the ties between Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the NYPD.

The City Council has passed legislation to limit collaboration. Borelli said that the Department of Corrections could have issued a detainer had these laws not been passed.

Laken Riley, 22, was a Georgia nursing school student from Augusta University who died of blunt-force head injuries.

Ibarra is a Venezuelan citizen who entered the U.S.A. in 2022. Ibarra received a “border pardon” which allows non-citizens to temporarily enter the country when there’s an emergency.

According to the NYPD, they do not have any record of Ibarra having been detained.

ICE issues a detainer if they discover that a criminal case has been filed against a suspected illegal alien. This detainer instructs the local police to hold the suspect while ICE starts the deportation procedure.

In Ibarra’s case, ICE stated that he was released by the NYPD before a detainer was issued.

New York City is now a sanctuary city. City Council has passed laws to cut ties with ICE, NYPD, and other law enforcement agencies.

Borelli tweeted after announcing that a Georgia woman had died, that local laws in New York City prevented the NYPD from collaborating. As a result, the suspect was not reported to federal authorities.

Jose Ibarra was originally arrested on Friday by the UGA Police Department for Riley’s Murder. Ibarra does not appear to be related to the victim.

A federal warrant is required and a suspect has to have been convicted of a violent offense within the past five years.

Bill de Blasio was the mayor of New York City when the laws were passed. Bill de Blasio said, “Today, we send a message to Washington that it is time to act and to provide relief to people who have greatly contributed to the growth of this country.

Congratulations to Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito and the City Council on passing this legislation. New York City has become a leader in immigration reform.

Bill de Blasio was the former mayor of New York City. Bill de Blasio addressed a New York City Press Conference, on September 20, 2019.

The de Blasio Administration also implemented reforms of this nature.

De Blasio Administration today released citywide policies, including a new NYPD Protocol to clarify and institutionalize their policy. De Blasio Administration said that they will not work with federal authorities on immigration except under certain circumstances.

He said, “But the proof of the pudding is in the pudding.”

New York Republican quoted local officials’ remarks when laws were passed. The claim is that Democrats are trying to stop communication between federal and local authorities about illegal immigration.

New York City Councilman Joe Borelli

We will lose the public’s trust as soon as our city starts working with ICE. An ex-NYC Council member stated that de Blasio was right to prohibit city agencies from cooperating in immigration law enforcement with Homeland Security.

Eric Adams (current New York City mayor) who served as Brooklyn Borough President from 2018-2018 supported this measure.

Adams stated in the de Blasio press release that public security is his number one priority.

A report claims that NYC Mayor Eric Adams is implementing a curfew on migrants for Tuesday.

After the murder of Laken Riley this week, Adams stated that he supported a change in city laws to allow New York City officials to work with federal authorities on immigration issues involving violent suspects or repeated offenders.

Adams told reporters Tuesday at City Hall: “I would like to return the standards established by previous mayors. “I think they share my convictions that anyone suspected of serious crimes in the city will be held accountable.

Adams argued repeatedly in favor of New York City being a sanctuary city. Adams said that illegal immigrants should not be afraid to receive city services such as attending school because of their immigration status.

De Blasio responded to a reporter’s question about Borelli’s remarks and laws passed by the City Council during his tenure with the City Council that he said “a stricter police” was needed.

De Blasio stated that immigration reform and a more aggressive border policy are needed.

In a recent article, the former mayor also suggested that accepting Republican requests for border security would be a trade-off for funding a humane, functioning asylum process. He also proposed “spending millions to create facilities on the Mexican side, including concessions and incentive, as well as Mexican Government requirements for acceptance of this plan”.

Borelli said that Democrats in New York City oppose the Trump immigration agenda. The belief was that this agenda was pursued by the federal government while de Blasio served as mayor.

He said: “They didn’t care so long as they did all they could to fight Trump.”

Borelli stated that the local legislation has now backfired as New Yorkers, and others, question the logic of the laws.

Borelli claimed that it “completely backfired” when people began asking “What was the logic behind allowing people who were illegally in New York to commit crimes against New Yorkers at the beginning?” Borelli said that people were asking, “What is the logic behind people illegally living in New York committing crimes to others and other New Yorkers?”

More Americans than all the 36 US states combined felt anger at Laken Riley’s murder.

According to an affidavit by investigators, Riley’s skull was disfigured as a result of the brutal beatings that she received during her murder.

Migrants cross the Rio Grande at the U.S.-Mexico border in Piedras Negras, Coahuila state, Mexico, Oct. 6, 2023.

Borelli responded, “He’s a sick puppy,” when asked about the brutal assault. Had we had an effective system for screening and deporting individuals, [he] wouldn’t have survived.

Ibarra was arrested for murder, kidnapping, and malice killing. Ibarra is also facing charges of false imprisonment, aggravated slapping, aggravated assault as well as concealing death.

New York’s Mayor Bill de Blasio makes declarations at a mass vaccination site at Yankee Stadium during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Bronx borough of New York City Feb. 5, 2021.

Robert Ortt, a Republican New York State Senator, said that police officers don’t notify federal immigration officials if they arrest while someone is legally in the United States.

The murderer of Laken, who was in law enforcement’s custody, wasn’t notified of his whereabouts by ICE or federal authorities because of policies and laws passed in New York State by Democrats.

Ortt argued Riley could still be alive if a law allowing officers the opportunity to work with ICE had been in place when Ibarra was released from prison in 2006.

“It’s not an opinion. It’s not what I think. I’m not split. It’s a fact. If this was the law of the State of New York, she’d be alive today. Her family would have a daughter today,” he said.
