House Democrats seemed to be taking aim at Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as they held an hearing to press for recusal or impeachment standards to justices.
The House Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts and Intellectual Property and the Internet was chaired and heard from legal experts during a hearing called “Building confidence in the Supreme Court through ethics and recusal reforms.”
This hearing is coming as leftists are trying to use Thomas’s spouse, Virginia “Ginni”, Thomas as a channel to attack the Court’s most conservative justice.
Johnson stated that certain members of the High Court would continue to get away with more and greater things until they can take over our entire republic. “And I am alarmed about unanswered question about Justice Thomas’s failure of to recuse himself from a decision that we now understand might have implicated his wife’s actions and her apparent attempts to overturn the 2020 elections,” Johnson stated.
He continued, “This problem is far more complex than Clarence Thomas. However, he is a good example of why it is long overdue to enact enforceable ethics rules.”
Breitbart News reported that Democrats from all parties are participating in a coordinated effort to discredit Justice Thomas. The “House Select Committee of Investigating the January 6th Attack On the United States Capitol” led by Rep. Bennie Thomson (D-MS), is also trying to discredit Justice Thomas through his wife.
Thompson has in the past called Justice Thomas “Uncle Tom” by Thompson — a racist trope derived from Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It was used to describe black conservatives who are zealously subservient to white people and eager to win their approval.
Thompson stated that Thompson was almost as bad at black people as he is black.
However, the Democrats’ claim that such standards were necessary was not challenged at the hearing.
During a heated section of testimony, Mark Paoletta, a Partner at Schaerr Jaffe LLP, pointed out Thompson’s use the racist trope to prove that the far left hate Justice Thomas because he is a black conservative.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, a member of the NY committee, addresses Paoletta. He cites him and says, “You’ve heard a similar sentiment. I think the quote was ‘Many left hate Justice Thomas because that he is a black conservative, who has never bowed down to those who demand that his thinking be a certain way just because of his skin color. ‘”
Jeffries asked Paoletta what evidence she had to support his “incendiary” charge. Paoletta responded that Thompson called Justice Thomas “Uncle Tom” because of his views regarding voter ID and affirmative actions. In fact, more black Americans support voter identification and affirmative-action, while 62 percent oppose affirmative action for college education.
Jeffries cut off Paoletta and tried to defend Thompson with two red herrings. He said “there are many vile, disgusting words that can be spoken.” It is a false notion to say that this is the case, that some members of one side have been called “the N-word” throughout our lives.
He continued, “And if Chairman Bennie Thompson had an observation to make,” he said. “You seem to believe Ginni Thomas, despite how many conflicts, has the right to her political opinions.”
Paoletta asked Jeffries if he could provide another example of Democrat hatred towards Justice Thomas. The New York Democrat replied “No”
Paoletta’s opening statements set up a defense for the nation’s High Court and exposed what he believes are the true motives of the Democrats.
“Unfortunately, this hearing’s title does not accurately reflect its purpose. He stated that if there is a lack of confidence in the Court, it is not because of issues regarding ethics or recusals. “Rather, the coordinated campaign of some Democrats and their corporate media allies to discredit conservative Justices with the aim of delegitimizing them is destroying confidence in the Court.”
Paoletta pointed out that the American Left is afraid that a new “originalist majority” could reverse precedents that cannot withstand “rigorous Constitution scrutiny.” She claimed that Democrats and the media were trying to intimidate, destroy and remove any Justices who might be part of this conservative working majority.
