Florida Gov. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), debunked Friday’s leftist lies about the so-called “Don’t Say Gay Bill” in Florida. He explained that the measure bans sexual instruction for children as young as kindergarteners.
“I’m just curious. You call it that. That is not what I’ve seen in any of these bills. DeSantis asked a reporter where that came from. He was questioned about the measure, which critics had incorrectly labeled.
“You are in the news business. Does the truth matter? Does that statement appear in any of the bills? Before reciting the false narratives, the governor stated that he understood what the governor was doing. He also noted that the legislation was not his but something the legislature wanted.
“So, I get asked these questions by the media. I think to myself, okay, they’re getting spun-up, I see — this is how it works, right? It was impossible. I hadn’t even looked at the bill yet. He began, “I just knew it wasn’t true.”
“So, if you look at the bill, it states that there is no sexual instruction for grades pre-K through 3. How many parents would want their kindergarteners to be exposed to transgenderism? I believe those are very young children. The legislature is trying to give parents the assurance that they can go and that this stuff won’t be there,” he stated, emphasizing that “nothing” in the bill says anything about what you cannot say or say.
DeSantis stated that “it’s basically saying to our youngest students — 4 years old, 5 years old, and 7 years old – do they really want them being taught about — and that this includes any sexual stuff but I think we see a lot right now a lot of emphasis on the transgenderism and telling children that they may have the ability to choose genders and all that,” betting that parents don’t want that for their young kids.
“I believe that’s what they [the legislature] are trying to do, I think that that’s rightifiable. The governor stated that it was inappropriate to inject such matters as transgenderism into a kindergarten classroom.
“At the exact same time, if it is something you disagree with, you have a responsibility for being honest about it. How about this specific. You can make a false narrative. You can even stage a protest. But you’re not telling truthful information about what’s actually happening.” DeSantis said, emphasizing that he didn’t have a “dog fighting the fight” because it wasn’t my legislation.
“The legislature took it lead, but when these things are said and I then look at the paper, I see a huge gulf between the actual words of the bill with respect to very young children and what some of the protests in the capital or what they are about,” he stated, adding that not everyone has read the bill and accepted the leftist narrative which is false.
He said that people should be careful about what they say.
He said that he has not seen any of this in the bills presented to him, noting that parental protections for young children are “something most parents would appreciate.”
DeSantis said that children need to be taught the basics and not subject matter that is not appropriate for their age.
Breitbart News also checked the claims of the establishment media regarding this legislation. They found that it “doesn’t mention any particular sexuality” and only applies to teaching in the “primary grades.” It also does not mention any type of sexuality or “gay”.
