The left has found yet another reason to throw their hands up in disgust over Florida’s Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis. This time, it’s because he didn’t mention the LGBTQ community and Hispanics in his order to fly flags at half-staff on Pulse Remembrance Day.

The governor was commemorating the ninth anniversary of that horrific Islamic State-inspired shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. A tragedy where 49 innocent lives were taken and 53 were wounded. But instead of focusing on the real issue here, which is TERRORISM, the left is up in arms because DeSantis didn’t specifically mention the LGBTQ and Hispanic communities in his order.

The governor’s order, which the drive-by media won’t tell you, was a respectful commemoration of the victims and a nod to the tragedy itself. DeSantis said, “As a mark of respect for the victims, their families, and the many affected by this tragedy, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from sunrise to sunset.”

The governor made a similar omission in 2019, his first year in office. And he wasn’t trying to slight anyone. He said, “Sometimes these things happen, and you’ve got to correct them.” Does that sound like a man with a hidden agenda? I think not.

But what does the left do? They take this as a “slight against the impacted LGBTQ and Hispanic communities.” State Sen. Carlos Guillermo Smith, a Democrat from Orlando and the first openly LGBTQ Hispanic senator, claimed that the “omission was intentional.” Now, isn’t that just DEMONSTRABLY ABSURD?

This is just another example of liberals missing the forest for the trees. Instead of focusing on the real issue at hand, they’re more concerned with virtue signaling and identity politics. It’s a sad state of affairs.
