A man accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife at a Detroit hospital on Friday has been taken into custody, police said.

Mario Green, 53, was arrested without incident early Saturday morning, according to the Detroit Police Department.

Authorities said the shooting occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Friday in the basement of Henry Ford Hospital, where the victim, Latricia Green, worked. Police allege Mario Green fired multiple shots during an altercation before fleeing the scene in a white Dodge Charger.

Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said no other injuries were reported. Officers later recovered surveillance video showing the suspect leaving the hospital shortly before 10 a.m.

Court records indicate that about a month before the incident, Latricia Green had filed for a personal protection order against her ex-husband, though it had not yet been served, according to Assistant Police Chief Charles Fitzgerald.

During the search, law enforcement released images of Green and his vehicle, urging the public to provide information. Police credited community tips and interagency cooperation in leading to his arrest.

Henry Ford Health, which operates the hospital, issued a statement expressing condolences and confirming it is assisting investigators. “We are devastated by the loss of our Henry Ford Hospital teammate, and our hearts go out to her loved ones,” the statement said. The hospital also confirmed it is conducting its own internal review and has reopened to patients and visitors.
