People on the left are apoplectic over Donald Trump’s choice of Fox News host Pete Hegseth to be his secretary of defense.
They’re only focusing on “Fox News”, which is a nice touch, and not bothering to check out the rest of Hegseth’s resume. This clueless tweet by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, was probably one of the worst.
A Fox & Friends weekend co-host is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense. I lead the Senate military personnel panel. All three of my brothers served in uniform. I respect every one of our service members. Donald Trump’s pick will make us less safe and must be rejected.
She claimed to respect “every one of our servicemen” but it sounded as if she had no idea about Hegseth’s military background.
Warren does not respect Hegseth if she attacks him in this manner. Hegseth has a B.A. Hegseth has a B.A. He was an infantry officer with the Minnesota National Guard. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan, unlike Tim Walz. In addition to his other awards, he earned two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was also a senior instructor in counter-insurgency and a platoon commander. He also served as the executive director for Vets for Freedom and Concerned Vets. He has also written a bestseller on the need to restore our military’s “meritocracy” and return it to lethality, accountability, and excellence.
It’s possible that someone who hasn’t been a Raytheon employee and knows the opinions of the men on the front lines is needed to help the military.
If she’s going to talk about her experience, I want to hear what Warren has done to “lead”, a Senate panel of military personnel. Imagine Warren – or anyone – questioning someone else’s background after she made a few sketchy statements about her own.
Let’s also talk about Joe Biden, who, in Afghanistan for example, caused the deaths of 13 military personnel and left behind hundreds of Americans. No one has been held responsible.
Warren’s objection could indicate that Hegseth will be up against the Democrats in his selection.
Hegseth and Warren were attacked by a group of people who let off some steam.
