Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, announced on Friday a significant development. She maintains she is presenting an array of evidence to the Department of Justice, evidence that purportedly shows an elaborate plot against President Donald Trump following his 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton. According to Gabbard, this effort was orchestrated by then-President Barack Obama and his national security team and had connections to Russia.

Gabbard’s announcement, supported by a heavily redacted and declassified report, stresses that this is not a matter of partisan politics. The evidence suggests a conspiracy of the highest order within the American government. Gabbard alleges that the aim was to prevent President Trump from exercising the mandate he received from the American electorate.

The report outlines how the intelligence community initially assessed that Russia was unlikely to influence the 2016 election through cyber means. However, according to the report, this position changed after Trump’s electoral victory. Gabbard points to documentation from December 7, 2016, which includes talking points prepared for DNI James Clapper, denying foreign cyberattacks’ influence on the election’s results.

Gabbard alleges that Obama’s White House convened a meeting of top National Security Council principals on December 9. Following this meeting, an email was reportedly sent to intelligence community leaders, tasking them to create a new assessment detailing Moscow’s alleged actions during the 2016 election. According to Gabbard, this new assessment came to light on January 6, 2017, right before Trump’s inauguration.

Gabbard asserts that the new assessment contradicted previous Intelligence Community reports. Furthermore, she alleges that this report relied on discredited information, such as the Steele Dossier, and was used to fuel a relentless smear campaign against President Trump.

Gabbard contends that this alleged conspiracy resulted in a years-long Mueller investigation, two Congressional impeachments, and ongoing U.S.-Russia tensions. She labeled these efforts as a gross abuse of power and a flagrant disregard of the Constitution, which, she argues, threatens the republic. Gabbard concludes that for the sake of the nation’s future, all involved in this alleged conspiracy must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
