Rep. Andy Ogles, R-TN, has introduced legislation to defund Jack Smith’s federal salary as the special prosecutor for Donald Trump at the DOJ.

Smith’s investigation of Trump led to a number of indictments. Some Republicans have criticized these as being fabricated or political interference. Smith claims that Trump has committed criminal offenses over classified documents, 2020 election challenges, and Jan. 6, 2021.

According to Just the News, however, Ogles, along with other Republican representatives, have now decided to take action against Smith.

The Washington Examiner reported that Ogles presented the bill on Saturday. The measure was cosponsored by GOP Representatives Alex Mooney (W.Va.) and Eli Crane (Ariz.).

The Yanking Outlays for an Unethical and Ruthless Enterprise That Fraudulently Impairs Robust Election Debate (You are fired) Act is being introduced as Republicans continue to line up in support of former President Donald Trump, due to their perception that Smith was pursuing a political case.

Ogles stated that the Biden administration’s weaponization of the DOJ to achieve personal political gains through the appointment of Jack Smith was nothing less than appalling. In November 2022, Smith was given the task of taking down Biden’s greatest threat, President Donald J. Trump. And according to Ogles Smith has engaged in highly questionable, and partisan, behavior since then.

Ogles said that “from falsified indictments to the non-existence of supporting ‘evidence,’ everything about Smith’s proceedings has screamed desperation.” He added: “America will not and cannot stand for this, and it is long past time Congress used its purse strings to say Jack Smith: You’re fired.”

Ogles tweeted this:

Alex Mooney, a bill co-sponsor, had previously called the June indictment by Smith and Biden DOJ of Donald Trump “the latest salvo” in a “long line of political attacks against the former President and leading Republican presidential candidate in 2024”. Mooney also cited “fake prosecutors”, “sham trials for impeachment”, the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago, and the indictment, as evidence of long-term persecution of Trump by “partisan Democrats.”

Mooney pointed out that Biden had his own scandal with classified documents, which the DOJ seemed to only want to brush under the carpet: “Joe Biden found classified documents in his Washington, D.C. office and in his Delaware garage.” But Biden wasn’t the only Democrat to have a similar scandal. Mooney tweeted that Hillary Clinton had carelessly stored classified data on her private email server at home. Where are the indictments? It is complete hypocrisy and mockery of the justice system that is supposed to be blind.
