According to a Decision Desk HQ projection, Republican Herschel Walker forced incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock to enter a December runoff for the U.S. Senate.
Warnock defeated Kelly Loeffler to win a special election in 2020. However, the seat was up for reelection in 2022. Although Warnock had a lead early in the race, his lead declined in the final weeks of the race and forced the runoff.
