Jason Aldean is a Texas country singer who released a single in May called ‘Try That in a Small Town’. There must have been a memo sent to the liberal press because now they are freaking out over how it criticizes violent cities, the 2020 George Floyd Riots, and dares honor gun ownership and small-town values.
Below are the lyrics of the first two verses (all caps are his from his YouTube posting):
SUCKER PUNCH SOMEBODY ON A SIDEWALK
CAR JACK AN OLD LADY AT A RED LIGHT
PULL A GUN ON THE OWNER OF A LIQUOR STORE
YA THINK IT’S COOL WELL ACT A FOOL IF YA LIKE
CUSS OUT A COP SPIT IN HIS FACE
STOMP ON THE FLAG AND LIGHT IT UP
YEAH YA THINK YOU’RE TOUGH
WELL TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YA MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
Watch:
Jason Aldean just released an absolutely epic music video for the song “Try That In a Small Town” that rips into the left-wing riots, soft on crime governance in cities, gun control, and other leftist degradation. pic.twitter.com/dUYzGbnvc6

Aldean shared the song with the following caption on Instagram:
When u grow up in a small town, it’s that unspoken rule of “we all have each other’s backs and we look out for each other.” It feels like somewhere along the way, that sense of community and respect has gotten lost. Deep down we are all ready to get back to that. I hope my new music video helps y’all know that u are not alone in feeling that way. Go check it out!
As expected, the left has gone berserk, accusing Aldean of racism and other buzzwords.
Snowflake critics need therapy and chai lattes. Aldean replied to critics with a lengthy response on Tuesday afternoon.
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.…

Although the sentence is long, it is important to include each word.
I have been accused in the past 24 hours of releasing a song against lynching (a song that has been out since May) and compared with someone who was (direct quote), not too happy about the BLM protests nationwide. No video clips are available that do not show actual news footage.
As others have noted, I was at Route 91, where many people died, and my community experienced another heartbreaking tragedy. Neither I nor anyone else wants to see headlines like this or to see families torn asunder.
Try That in A Small Town is about a sense of community that I felt as a kid, when my family and I cared for each other no matter our differences, be they background or beliefs. I’m aware that there are many people who disagree in this Country on how to return to normalcy. This song is about wanting to see a day where headlines don’t keep us up at night.
Aldean played at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, a concert that took place in 2017 when a maniac gunman injured and killed 58 concertgoers.
It is a fact that the Left labels anything it dislikes as racist, or related to White Supremacy. I believe this rocking song is trying to highlight the lawlessness in our big cities. This is unacceptable and un-American. It is not illegal for him to own a gun.
Just to say: I really like the song. The guitars are a great addition to the song, not only because they convey the message but also for their beauty.
