Palmer beat Biden in the American Samoa Democratic Caucus

Biden loses the Democratic caucuses in American Samoa

Panelists of ‘Democracy 2020: Super Tuesday Primary’ discuss President Biden’s first loss at the Democratic primaries in 2024 amid questions about the Democratic Party’s unity.

Biden’s first challenge in the Democratic presidential race was lost to an unknown candidate on Tuesday in American Samoa, a U.S. territorial territory.

Jason Palmer, an entrepreneur and investor who describes himself as such, won the American Samoa caucuses. He would take four delegates, to Biden’s 2.

Palmer’s campaign website describes him as a resident of Baltimore Maryland aged 52, with experience in leadership and executive positions at companies such as Microsoft and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Palmer has also worked in small businesses for 25 years, in addition to the executive-level experience he holds.

In a Mar. A press release issued by Palmer’s campaign on March 1 states that the businessman is the youngest Democrat presidential candidate.

Palmer responded to his win in American Samoa with a post to X. He said, “I am honored to announce my success in the American Samoa Presidential Primary.” The incredible community is to be thanked for their support. This victory is a testimony to the power of our voices. Together, we can rebuild America’s Dream and create a brighter tomorrow for everyone.”

Jason Palmer defeated President Biden at the Democratic Caucus for American Samoa.

Biden’s defeat to Palmer follows a string of Super Tuesday victories over his opponents: author Marianne Williamson, and Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips.

Biden was in Iowa, Maine, and Vermont earlier that evening. He also visited Texas, Arkansas Tennessee, North Carolina Oklahoma, Colorado as well as Phillips’ native state of Minnesota.

Biden, who was running for the Democratic nomination in 2020, lost the U.S. territory to his competitors. He received only 8% of votes, compared with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’s 10%, former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabrield’s 29 %, and New York Billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s 50 %.

Jason Palmer claims to have 25 years of experience in small business, as well as executive-level experience.

Bloomberg was the sole winner of this contest, despite having spent over $500 million on his campaign.

American Samoa is a territory and does not have a vote in the general election. It can only send delegates during the primary campaign.

On June 9, 2023, President Joe Biden spoke at an event held at Nash Community College, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

The Biden campaign minimized the loss, pointing out that it was likely that less than 500 votes were cast.
