Wyoming voters voted in favor of Rep. Liz Cheney (R, Wyoming) last week in the Republican primaries. Harriet Hageman (Trump-endorsed) got 38 points. She spent more time on issues Wyoming cared about than Cheney and wasn’t as obsessed with Donald Trump.

Cheney, after losing in a stunning fashion, then said that she was considering running for president. This is a delusional ambition with no guarantee of success.

She wouldn’t win the Republican nomination. She couldn’t run as a third-party candidate and wouldn’t be able to win the nomination. She believes she can take on Trump to stop him from becoming president again in 2024.

However, if she did, I believe it would be more likely she would help Trump than Biden because she is closer to Biden’s mind. It turns out that there is a poll supporting this thought.

A new You Gov poll has shown that Cheney is a strong supporter of Trump in a Biden/Trump/Cheney race. She draws more people away than Trump and helps to deliver Trump a comfortable win.

In a race against Cheney as an independent candidate, Trump would be able to suddenly jump to an 8-point advantage over Biden, 42% to 32%.

Cheney is trailing with 11% of the vote in that scenario. Biden’s problem is that almost all of Cheney’s votes are at his expense — and enough to make Trump the winner in theory.

Cheney would get 69 percent of the vote from Biden. Trump’s vote would only receive 15%.

It makes perfect sense. Only people would vote for Cheney if they didn’t vote for Trump but might vote for Biden. She doesn’t have a constituency.

What a sweet irony it would be to help Trump win after all her failed attempts to destroy him. This would be the perfect way to end her obsession.
