Although it was Hamas that launched surprise terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians earlier this month, far-left Democrats in the U.S. have continued to call for ceasefires. They claim the Israeli response is disproportionate, and they allege it has created a humanitarian emergency amongst the Palestinians.

We previously reported that radical Democrat Socialist Squad Members led by Reps. Rashida Tlaib, and Cori Bush, introduced a Monday resolution that called for “an immediate ceasefire”. They conveniently left out that Hamas started this war and only referred to the fact that the war allegedly had “claimed the life of over 2,700 Palestinians, and over 1,400 Israelis including Americans, up to date.”

As an IDF soldier explained in a recent ABC News interview, despite the fact that this issue has divided the Democratic Party deeply, they have not felt any conflict over the best way to respond.

Watch the video below to hear the reporter talk about “voices in this region and elsewhere”, who claim that the “price of Israel’s reaction” has been “too high” due to the deaths of Palestinian civilians.

What is the soldier’s reaction? We’re at war. It’s not our responsibility to [pull back]. Hamas should be asked that question. “We are here because there is no other option.”

Watch:

In a previous post, my colleague addressed the question of “proportionality”, which is relevant to this discussion and I believe should be repeated here.

It’s not about a war of ‘eye for an eye’, but rather to ensure that the group who took your eye will never have the manpower or resources to attempt to steal your eye or another’s. It’s the use of overwhelming force to cripple your opponent or even destroy them.

It’s a well-known saying that war is hell. This is especially true when terroristic despots train their military to use civilians as human shields. They may even have them hide in daycare centers, apartments, or hospitals so that if and when their opponents strike back, they will be accused of war crimes against innocent people.

Israel knows that any innocent life lost during the war is tragic. They warn Gazan civilians in advance to leave certain areas before possible airstrikes and ground campaigns like this:

If the Hamas government cared at all about innocent lives, they would not have allowed their military to behead babies, take hostages and murder them, or rape and parade women naked in the street.

Hamas’s goal was to torture the Israelis, not just Israel. It’s all about eradicating Jews from the world, beginning in Israel. The IDF had no choice but to respond.
