A 23-year-old Salvadoran illegal immigrant, who was arrested and released on the border in June after being caught at the southern border, has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed to us that Gerber Luis Sánchez-Centeno was in the country illegally and previously detained.

“Sanchez Centeno, a 23-year-old Salvadoran national, is a person who has been unlawfully present in the United States,” ICE stated in a press release. “U.S. Border Patrol arrested Sanchez on June 2, after he illegally entered the United States in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. ERO El Paso put Sanchez in the Alternatives to Detention Program with a GPS Monitor later that day.” “ERO El Paso terminated Sanchez’s ATD program on August 8, after he had absconded.”

The Montgomery County Police Department charged Sanchez with murdering his girlfriend on Sept. 20, after he was arrested. Sanchez is still in the Montgomery County, Maryland authorities’ custody. ERO Baltimore filed an immigration detainer for Sanchez on Sept 23, 2024, at the Montgomery County Detention Center, the statement read.
