Republican Senator Thom Tillis, hailing from North Carolina, has thrown in the towel! He’s announced he won’t be campaigning for reelection, and this came right after his pitiful display of defiance against President Trump’s tax cuts and spending slash package. You know, the one aimed at trimming the fat from our bloated healthcare programs.

Tillis, in an attempt to sound noble, claims he’s proud of his public service journey but capitulates to the harsh political climate for those who dare to rebel against their own party.

In a grandiloquent statement, he lamented how leaders who embrace bipartisanship and compromise are ‘becoming an endangered species’. Well, Senator, maybe it’s because they don’t STAND for anything! And he’s proud of his little rebellions against his own party! He wouldn’t have changed a single one, he stated. Well, Senator Tillis, it looks like your own party wouldn’t have changed your departure either.

Trump, true to his style, didn’t hold back. He slammed Tillis right where it hurts, on social media. Accused him of seeking publicity with his ‘no’ vote and threatened to campaign against him. And what did Tillis do for his constituents after last year’s floods in North Carolina? Zip. Nada. Nothing! As Trump rightfully said, ‘Tillis is a talker and complainer, NOT A DOER.’

Tillis won his Senate seat in 2014 and was eyeing a third term in 2026. But now? He’s all but vanished into political oblivion.

To conclude, this is the perfect illustration of what happens when you try to play both sides in the arena of ideas. You end up pleasing no one and losing everything.
