The New York Times reports that Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, has been indicted for criminal charges after a federal corruption investigation. As of Wednesday evening, only a few details about the indictment were known.
On Wednesday night, the indictment was sealed and it wasn’t clear what charges or charges M. Adams would face. When the charges are made public, Adams will be the first New York City Mayor to face criminal charges while in office.
A local news source said an arrest may occur as early as Thursday.

Adams is under scrutiny following the raids on several of his officials’ homes as part of a federal investigation. This led to several resignations.
Bob Hoge, a reporter for us, reported earlier Wednesday that his party had criticized Adams. AOC, among others, called for his resignation.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams can say with some justification, “Well, she started it!” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a leftist Democrat from the Bronx who took to social media on Wednesday to call for the embattled New York City mayor to resign because of the numerous investigations against him and his administration.
The congresswoman provided a link to an article in the New York Times where she made the same statement. This article detailed the turmoil that the Adams administration faced as federal investigators probed all kinds of possible corruption.
Adam appeared defiant but the indictment may change everything.
Representatives of the Mayor have chosen to not comment on this situation. Adams will be up for reelection again in 2025.
