Supreme Court Declines To Halt Biden Student Loan Debt Relief After Wisconsin Taxpayers Sue

Brown County Taxpayers Association was also one of the challengers. They called President Joe Biden’s plan to cancel the national debt illegal and claimed that it violated Congress’ discretionary spending power.

The suit was filed by Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty for BCTA. The lawsuit was filed by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty on behalf of BCTA.

The challengers requested that the high court stop the loan forgiveness program while an appeal is made to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Original filing of the suit was made in federal district court, October 4. The court rejected the suit due to insufficient standing. The group appealed to the 7th Circuit.

Biden announced that he would give $10,000 to student loan borrowers earning less than $125,000/year and $20,000 to Pell Grant beneficiaries.
