Berwyn Police fatally shot a suspect of committing triple murder in Mahomet (Illinois) late Wednesday night.
Around 9:40 pm, three people were found dead in the block of Riverside Drive. Two people died in local hospitals and one person was declared dead on the scene.
The suspect was later identified as John Lyons, 24, from Westchester. He fled to Berwyn and was found with a gun on Home Avenue around 11:40 pm. Lyons, who had initially evaded police, broke into a house on Wenonah Avenue and killed two dogs, before a confrontation with the authorities.
Lyons engaged police officers in a yard. He ignored their commands and fired at them, and they responded with deadly force, killing him. No officers were hurt.
Nicholas “Nick” Fuentes, a far-right influencer on X, claimed that Lyons had targeted his home. Fuentes shared video footage taken from his Ring Doorbell Camera showing Lyons, armed with a crossbow, pistol, and incendiary device, trying to enter his house while he live-streamed.

Yesterday night, an armed killer attempted to kill me at my house. This was reported on this platform. The gunman was armed with a crossbow, pistol, and incendiary device. I think he wanted to kill me. He is dead now. I am okay!
According to the police, yesterday morning, before arriving at my door with his gun drawn and calling my name, the would-be killer committed a triple murder in southern Illinois. I thank God for my life today.
Tragically, a gunman entered a neighbor’s house to escape police and killed two dogs. It was heartbreaking but it could have gone so much worse. God be merciful. Doxing does not involve any kind of game. This nihilistic, lynch-mob mentality must stop before someone else is murdered.
Fuentes was not injured in the incident but he has stated that he will relocate.
Now I’ll have to move and uproot my entire life. It is not fair to ask my neighbors who have young families to shoulder the burden.
To protect my property and myself, I’ll need to hire 24-hour security.
Fuentes has posted surveillance video footage of the terrifying incident.
Fuentes detailed the tragic incident shortly after his first hearing of a battery charge on Thursday, which stems from a separate confrontation outside of his home last month. A controversial podcaster, Fuentes has repeatedly been targeted at his home after his address was leaked online.
