Ted Cruz Dismantles Colin Allred’s Campaign With Dominating Debate Performance

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, delivered an impressive debate performance Wednesday night in a race that was too close to call. The current senator slammed his opponent, Rep. Colin Allred of Texas (D), on every issue. Allred was not ready for prime time, contradicting himself multiple times and falling into the traps of Cruz.

Cruz entered the debate with the intention of exposing Allred as the radical that he really is, and not the moderate that he claims to represent. It’s fair to say that he was successful.

CRUZ: Not a single word has been said about his record. It reminded me at first of Kamala’s answer to everything in the debates: “Look, I am from the middle class.” Some lines are nice, but they ignore his record. Let’s talk about his voting history. You can also see the actual voting results at allredfacts.com. He has spoken out four times in favor of boys and girls playing sports for women. He is also a cosponsor of the Equality Act and voted in favor of it. The Equality Act required that boys could enter the changing rooms, bathrooms, and locker rooms of girls.

Allred: (mumbling), That’s just not true.

CRUZ: “He voted for it.” This is his record. Second, there was an extremely simple, narrowly defined bill. It was to protect women’s and girls’ sports. He voted no. This bill only addressed the question of whether our biological sons should compete with our daughters. Congressman Allred played linebacker in the NFL. It’s not fair that men compete against women.

He signed the Transgender Bill of Rights for the third time. He co-sponsored the Transgender Bill of Rights, which explicitly mandated that girls compete in sports against boys. Just two weeks ago, Allred, along with a hundred radical Democrats, demanded that our military permit drag shows on bases, pay soldiers for sex change using taxpayer funds, and pay children to be sterilized or have sex changes on bases. Again, that’s extreme. This is not Texas but his voting record.

Allred’s ads claim he is a border enforcer and social moderate. The truth, however, is quite different. Cruz was so precise in his description of what the congressman did. He went to Washington, and he did as Democrats do. He voted and sponsored a wide range of radical, left-wing policies that would make the majority of Texans wince.

Allred has voted against children’s protection on numerous occasions, and with enthusiasm, when it comes to transgenderism. The congressman is far from being the rebel that he claims to be. He has voted with his party on the issue of transgenderism and against protecting children. He may try to hide his record, but it will not go away.

From there, the abuse continued. Cruz made a stark contrast on abortion by pointing out Allred’s vote for federal legislation which would have allowed abortions up to birth in all states.

Cruz brought up the receipts again when the subject of antisemitism was raised, pointing out how Allred had sided with the Democrat position on Gaza and Hamas. Like vice presidential candidate Tim Walz before him, the congressman has a long history of working and befriending radical Islamists.

CRUZ: In Dallas, Congressman Allred hosted a radical Imam who compared Zionists to Nazis and called them monsters. Congressman Allred refers to them as the best of North Texas. I do not support antisemitic acts, but I can tell you that the people who fund the antisemitic demonstrations on college campuses are some of Congressman Allred’s most ardent supporters. We need to be clear, and we need to draw the line. As for myself and my family, we will support Israel.

CRUZ: Currently, Kamala Harris and Colin Allred are both vying for the votes of anti-Semites on college campuses. I don’t care about their votes. If they threaten Jewish students they should either be arrested or prosecuted. They should also be expelled and deported if from another country.

Allred’s biggest liability is, of course, his opposition to Donald Trump’s border policies. The congressman claims to be tough at the border but his voting record and comments when he was not running for U.S. Senate portray a different picture.

CRUZ: Congressman Allred does not mention anything that he has done while in office. Gromer Jeffers correctly noted that Congressman Allred publicly stated that if border security is important to you, then he believes you are a racist. He has called the border wall, quote, “that racist border wall,” and pledged to tear it down personally.

By the way, this is his voting record. He has voted against the wall three times, not just once. Colin Allred always votes against any serious border security measure. It’s the same pattern that we’ve seen in presidential elections because Kamala does it too. And understand at home: Colin Allred is Kamala. Both have the same records. I served with them both. They have voted for open borders repeatedly, but now they’re trying to hide this from voters.

Let’s look at my record. As Donald Trump’s president, I worked with President Trump on securing the border. We achieved amazing success. We had the lowest illegal immigration rate in 40 years. Joe Biden inherited that. Colin Allred inherited it, and they opened the border deliberately, with Texas paying the price.

Allred did not go to Washington to buck his party and help resolve the border crisis. All he could muster was a vote in favor of a meaningless measure. In terms of actual policy, the congressman was an unquestionable rubber stamp for Biden’s administration, regardless of his voting record or rhetoric.

Cruz ripped his opponent to shreds. If Allred wins, anyone who watched the debate will no longer be in doubt about who will head to the Senate. He’d be a “yes man” to Chuck Schumer at best. If Kamala Harris wins the presidency, he would likely be the decisive vote for her agenda. Texans must make a wise choice. It’s not the right time to pick another “moderate” Democrat who will do anything but when in office.
