According to a recent report, David Weiss violated DOJ rules to avoid scrutiny by Congress.

Weiss was told in a letter from the Department of Justice not to respond to congressional requests. The letter stated that the Office of Legislative Affairs had the sole authority to act. Weiss instead sent an infamous letter to House Members in which he falsely stated that he had “ultimate authority” concerning the Hunter Biden Investigation.

According to an exclusive email sent to The Federalist, the Department of Justice instructed Delaware U.S. attorney David Weiss to not respond to inquiries from Congress. The same email stated that, under DOJ policies, only the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) can respond to requests by the legislative branch.

Weiss signed and sent a letter later to the House Judiciary Committee as a response to a direct inquiry to Attorney General Merrick G. Garland. In that letter, Weiss falsely claimed to have “been given ultimate authority over” Hunter Biden’s investigation. The DOJ’s disregard for its own policy is further proof that Garland and Weiss were trying to hide the fact that Weiss was never in charge of the Hunter Biden Investigation.

Weiss would later reveal that he was denied the right to charge Hunter Biden on multiple occasions. Garland would grant him special counsel status, which would confirm that he had not been granted “ultimate power” as he claimed to Congress.

Weiss has been accused of corruption before. His office was responsible for a plea agreement that Hunter Biden received at a reduced price. This plan was only scrapped after a court raised the issue and exposed its unprecedented nature. Emails also show that Garland was basically interfering with Weiss in regard to Senate Republicans.

Weiss, now as special counsel for Hunter Biden, is accusing him of a gun crime that involves the falsification of a government document. No indication has been made as to whether or not the tax charges would be re-filed. Weiss had allowed the statute of limitation to expire on some of Hunter Biden’s worst alleged crimes including tax fraud.

This is just another example of the federal government’s unwillingness to be accountable. The DOJ’s reputation will continue to decline until there are major changes made. This won’t be happening under the Biden Administration.
