The United States Central Command announced early Sunday morning that as tensions increase over Iran’s possible second attack on Israel, U.S. bombers have arrived in the Middle East.

Without providing further details, CENTCOM announced that B-52 Stratofortress Bombers from the 5th Bomb Wing of Minot Air Force Base have arrived in the Middle East.

Pentagon officials have stated earlier that B-52 Bombers with a long-range as well as additional destroyers, fighter squadrons and tanks would be deployed to the region to deter Iran and its militant allies.

This move is made ahead of the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday and as the Middle East is at the edge of a regional conflict because of the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Iranian proxy groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and others in Gaza and Lebanon.

Ayatollah Khomeini, Iran’s supreme ruler, warned Israel and the U.S. of “a crushing response” on Saturday after Israeli strikes in October targeted military bases and locations within the Islamic Republic, killing five people.

Khamenei said in a video released by Iranian state media, “The enemies will be crushed for what they have done to Iran, to the Iranian nation, and the resistance front.”

Khamenei did not elaborate on when or how an attack like this might happen.

Iran launched more than 200 ballistic missiles against targets in Israel in the latest attack.

Last month, the U.S. Military sent Israel a U.S. missile defense system called Terminal High Altitude Area Defense or THAAD. The system is designed to protect Israel from potential Iranian attacks.
