In a recent podcast, Trump hinted at his interest in selecting Tucker Carlson to be his vice president.
Via The Hill:
Former President Trump said he would consider Tucker Carlson for a possible running mate in the year 2024.
“I like Tucker a lot; I guess I would,” Trump said during an appearance on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” this week. “I think I’d say I would because he’s got great common sense.”
“You know when they say that you guys are conservative, or I’m conservative — it’s not that we’re conservative, we have common sense. We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall because walls work,” he said.

It would be a great choice for Trump. Tucker Carlson has a huge following, not only among Republicans but also independents and Democrats.
Via The Wrap:
The media has a cottage industry dedicated to spreading Tucker Carlson’s nightly Fox News musings. This is done to reach a liberal audience who might not tune in to listen to what the conservative leader is saying to his huge following. Recent data from Nielsen MRI Fusion suggest that these nightly dispatches might not be needed: In October, which is the latest month for data available, Carlson’s 9 p.m. ET was the most popular cable news program among Democrats between the coveted 25-54 age group.
Carlson ranked third among Democrats for total viewers [in October 2021] as well as the top Democrats in terms of demo. Fox News had 3 of the top 4 programs for Democrats, “The Five,” Tucker Carlson Tonight,” and “Hannity.” The number one spot was held by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show.
Carlson’s popularity is widespread across all ideologies because, unlike his former colleague, and Republican hack Sean Hannity for life, he doesn’t lie to gain partisan advantage.
Carlson also has a deep understanding of how the DC Swamp functions that Trump seems to be unwilling or unable to develop. Trump’s greatest gift is his showmanship and political instincts. He knows how to work a crowd as his entertaining and well-attended rallies attest. He lacks a thorough understanding of his opponents.
Tucker Carlson understands them. He is a product of the political establishment and has worked in mainstream media for decades. He could be a valuable right-hand person in developing a strategy to undermine the Deep State – which is Trump’s stated goal – rather than just handing out meat at rallies. This is the value that RFK Jr. could bring to Trump’s cabinet.
Unfortunately, this is mostly electoral fantasy on my part, as Carlson has repeatedly and explicitly denied that he has any ambitions for holding elected office.
