CNN announced Thursday that John King will step down from his role as the host of Inside Politics and hand over to Dana Bash.

CNN reported that King’s role would be to focus on voters in battleground states before the presidential elections of 2024. Reports claim the anchor requested this new role, and she will play an important role in the coverage of the 2024 election by the network.

In a press statement, King said that this assignment was his “back-to-the future” dream. This is my 10th Presidential cycle and I felt it was the right time to go back to my roots of reporting across the country.

According to the outlet, Bash was “thrilled” to replace her ex-husband as the network’s CEO.

Bash said, “After nearly 30 years of covering campaign, Capitol Hill and the White House, I’m thrilled to lead a show that focuses primarily on politics, which impacts Americans’ everyday lives. Bash stated, “John’s show has attracted a loyal audience of political junkies. I am looking forward to leading the new chapter. ”

King’s replacement is the latest in a series changes made to CNN since Chris Licht was appointed president in February 2022. Licht made several changes, including a change in the program assignment. Don Lemon, who announced his departure from the network on Monday after 17 years of service, also tried to incorporate more bipartisan reporting.
