House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R – Ky.) has claimed that a file of informants he wants from the FBI links President Biden to a $5,000,000 bribery plot during his time as Vice President.

Comer revealed the amount of the alleged payment in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday. He warned the FBI that if it failed to provide the file as a response to the subpoena he issued on May 3 he would initiate contempt proceedings.

Comer’s note states that the informant tip was dated June 30, 2020. This provides an additional clue for the story. This allegation has sparked speculation because of the extensive consulting undertaken by the Bidens in countries where Joe Biden had significant influence as vice president.

In a coincidence, 17 days before the tip, Ukrainian officials held in Kyiv a press conference where they presented cash in the amount of $5 million purportedly paid as a bribe in order to stop an investigation against the founder of Burisma natural gas company, Mykola Zlochevsky.

Hunter Biden held a lucrative board position with Burisma between 2014 and 2019 despite his lack of experience in the energy industry. He earned more than $1,000,000 a year. A Burisma executive met with then Vice President Biden on April 16, 2015, at a Washington dinner. Ukrainian officials seize a large sum of money in $100 American bills that is reportedly the same amount Joe Biden received years ago. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has arrested three Kyiv officials, including an ex-tax official and a current one. An additional $1 million allegedly was offered via a middleman as a bribe.

Nazar Kholodnytsky a Ukrainian anti-corruption prosecutor claimed that neither Joe Biden nor Hunter Biden was implicated in this specific case. But, according to Comer two and a quarter weeks later, he said, an FBI document that accused Joe Biden of corruption had either been “created” or “modified.”

The Oversight Committee did not confirm the country in which Biden accepted the bribe while vice president. However, a source informed The New York Post it was not believed to involve China. This likely means it involved either Russia or Ukraine.

The FBI has refused to release the document that links Joe Biden with the $5 million bribe despite Comer’s subpoena.

Comer wrote FBI Director Wray that “whistleblower disclosures” indicated the FBI and Department of Justice were in possession of an FD-1023 document describing a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a Foreign National relating to an exchange of money for policies decisions. “The FBI is being obstructionist by refusing to provide this document.” To narrow the scope of the subpoena we have added two additional terms based upon unclassified and legally-protected whistleblower disclosures which may be referenced on the FD-1023: “June 30, 2020” and “five million,” he said.

The FBI must respond by May 30, 2023, or else contempt proceedings may be initiated.
