The Democrat talking points on Joe Biden withdrawing from the race for president have gone from being comical to being obscenely ridiculous.

The word is spreading that this entire sordid saga should be portrayed as a “selfless” affair, comparing Biden to America’s First President, George Washington.

What they said is:

Ted Lieu, vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus, told reporters on Tuesday that Biden “will go down in history” as one of America’s best presidents. This was a stark contrast to the party rhetoric just days before.

The California representative continued, “His selfless action this weekend reminds me of what George Washington was like when he gave up his reelection to put the country first.”

In a press conference, House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar said that future generations of men and women will remember Joseph Robinette Biden as the beacon of hope in the world, ensuring that patriotism is put first.

Except… no, as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated during a Fox News segment that Biden had been forced out of the Democratic Party by corporate media, megadonors, and leaders within his party.

The media has been trying to sell the idea that Biden is George Washington, refusing to take power for the sake of the country. He had no choice. He was being stabbed in the back by them! The New York Times went after him and the big donors went after him… [L]ook at Democrats, corporate media is an important part of their party. You are a walking dead candidate when you lose media coverage. He had no choice. “This is not George Washington.”

Watch:

DeSantis’ comments echo what top Republicans have said about the Democrat machinations behind the scenes to force Biden from the race. Some have strongly implied or declared outright that it was essentially a coup in the palace.

The George Washington comparison was made, presumably, to preserve Biden’s legacy, or whatever. If true, this would be in line with reports that First Lady Jill Biden had a problem dropping out of the debate because she did not want his terrible performance against Donald Trump as the “defining image” for Biden’s presidency.

She has a problem, however, because since then, far more defining images of Joe Biden have appeared, including those that show how frail and unwell he looks in the few videos we’ve seen since that debate.

In trying to maintain Biden’s “patriotic”, political legacy with Demcorat, Jill Biden compounded this problem. This is not surprising, given her Edith Wilson-like role of promoting him as mentally sharp and capable of leading, when she, more than anyone else, should have known otherwise.
