Donald Trump is still riding high after his overwhelming victory on November 5. He celebrated his selection as TIME Magazine’s “Person of the Year” by visiting the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday to ring the opening Bell.

Even those who were previously firmly against him have shown a change in attitude. It’s up for debate whether that is a true change of heart or a simple function of political expediency.

There will always be people who oppose Trump, and anyone associated with him. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is almost a part of their personalities.

As Trump’s recent milestone shows, their numbers are shrinking. Trump’s approval rating is now higher than ever since he declared his presidential run in 2015.

RealClearPolitics’ graph shows that, since July 2, 2015, when his unfavorable ratings were 39.3 percentage points higher than his favorable ratings, Trump has crossed the approval/disapproval stream for the first time. This was on December 6, 2024.

On December 11, he had a favorable rating (+2 %), with 49.4 % favorable and 47.4 % unfavorable. He was closest to this rating on December 31, 2016, (-3.9%) and April 25, 2020 (-4.6%).

Joe Biden, the outgoing president, has a favorable rating of -16.5%. As of November 6, his Job Approval was 41.1%. Comparatively, Trump’s approval rating at this point in his presidency was 45.9 %, Barack Obama had 50.1%, and George W. Bush was 51.5 %.

Biden has 38 days left in his presidency. A lot can happen, but as the lamest lame duck limps to the finish, his successor will soar.
