Holiday Season: Will Shoppers or Shoplifters Break Records This Year?

All across America, there is a new sense of entitlement that, unfortunately, has energized the criminal element. Liberal Democrats have infiltrated far too many American cities and have weakened and, in some cases, obliterated the justice system. Revolving-door arrests, where criminals are placed right back on the streets, have placed honest, hard-working citizens in danger.

One area where crime has literally ballooned out of control is retail theft. In some cities, the losses have become so great that well-known retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Nordstrom, and Kohls, just to name a few, have been forced to close down and leave. In other cases, retailers have been forced to put almost everything behind plexiglass, which forces honest consumers to be inconvenienced while a sales associate is contacted to open something that should not need to be locked down.

A huge black market has developed for cleaning products. Brand-name items have literally been cleaned off of the shelves by unrepentant thieves. Again, the result is that honest people suffer. A Giant Foods store located in Washington, D. C., has been forced to remove Tide laundry detergent, Colgate toothpaste, and Advil pain reliever from their store shelves. In addition, they were forced to hire more security, lock up items that are easily stolen, block off secondary entrances, move products popular with thieves out of reach, limit the number of checkout items, and then still check customer receipts at the door.

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Giant president Ira Kress revealed the sad truth:

This particular store is worse than other stores. We’ve invested significant money in this store and have even increased security.

This is something I do not want to do. Although I would like to sell these products, Tide isn’t a very profitable product in our store. Often, the stock is stocked and then it is gone within two hours.

Diane Hicks, senior vice president of operations at Giant Foods, expressed her frustration to The Post about not being able properly to serve their honest clients: “I’ve been leaving out the information for our customers, and unfortunately this forces all the criminals to come to us. ”

Retailers, such as Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods cited theft in the last quarter for the decline in their earnings.

With the holidays coming up, it’s important to consider whether stores will report record sales or record theft. The inflation under the Biden Administration is already causing Americans to lose money. Traditional food items at Thanksgiving will make many people wince. Catherine Salgado discusses this topic in detail in her column.

The honest American citizen is being hit in multiple ways. Having to pay more for items that are commonplace, not finding certain items at the store, having to deal with additional security measures, and dealing with criminal elements who feel emboldened while shopping.

“Emboldened” may not be the strongest word. If the stolen items total less than $1000, the theft isn’t prosecuted. This leads to some thieves carrying calculators around with them in order to stay within the limit.

Many stores have also instructed their employees not to intervene or try to stop a thief from stealing. It is now common to see videos showing criminals leaving with armloads or cartloads of merchandise, without any resistance. Imagine how much easier this will be when the stores are crowded and more busy during the holiday season.

This is not acceptable as a society. The thefts are not isolated incidents. Retailers must raise their prices to compensate for the thefts.

Liberals are undermining the lives of honest Americans. The solution is to eliminate them from all positions of decision-making and power. Otherwise, they will reduce us to third-world status, doing so under the guise of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In reality, their agenda is segregation, lawlessness, and exclusion.
