Vice President JD Vance has taken issue with Democrats and liberal thinkers who have displayed outrage over actress Sydney Sweeney’s advertisements for American Eagle’s blue jeans. Vance suggests that such responses reveal no lessons have been learned from previous electoral losses, attributing these to an apparent “hostility to basic American life.”

Both progressive factions and the mainstream media have voiced strong criticisms of the advertisements, which carry the tagline, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.” Allegations of unspoken implications of racism, eugenics, and Nazi propaganda have been raised concerning the campaign.

In one particular advertisement, Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney is seen wearing a full denim outfit, standing next to a billboard reading, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes.” The actress then crosses out “genes” and replaces it with “jeans,” drawing attention to the brand’s denim focus. According to reliable sources, Vance voiced his views on this matter on the “Ruthless Podcast” last Friday, as reported by the Daily Caller.

Vance’s commentary on the Democrats’ reaction was pointed. He noted, “It reveals something pretty interesting about the Dems, though, which is that you have a normal, All-American beautiful girl doing a normal jeans ad. They’re trying to sell jeans to kids in America, and they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing.”

Vance suggested that Democrats might have become “less crazy” after losing the White House and Senate last year. The Vice President continued his critique, implying that Democrats’ electoral prospects might be negatively affected due to their perceived “hostility to basic American life.”

A Wall Street Journal poll released on July 25 appears to support Vance’s statement to a certain extent. The poll found that 63% of voters held an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party, the highest level of unpopularity in Journal polling dating back to 1990. The significance of this should not be overlooked.

Democrats and liberals may need to reassess their approach to ordinary American life, or risk further electoral losses. As always, a more comprehensive picture will only emerge from future developments and the shared wisdom of the American people.
