The First Lady Jill Biden poured praise on Joe Biden, the departing president of the United States during a White House Dinner held on the South Lawn to thank longtime Democratic supporters.

Jill Biden, at the event on Friday, praised the octogenarian for his years of service to politics. She emphasized that this was his last term in office as the nation’s highest official.

“What you’ve accomplished in the last four years is stunning,” she said, as he cried a few tearful tears in front of a crowd of Democrat donors. The absence of Vice President Kamala Harris was notable.

Harris has opted to stay out of the limelight as she and her husband Doug Emhoff are currently on vacation in Hawaii following her defeat.

Jill, before the president spoke, made a joking remark to guests and supporters. She said: “If have a chair, please sit down. Don’t jump in the pool!”

“Joe and I are hosting this dinner tonight for a very simple reason to say thank you. Thank you to so many dear friends,” she continued.

“We started this journey to define the light and redeem the soul of our nation. You helped me get to the White House and you made it possible for us to accomplish so much. That’s not hyperbole. “I mean it with all my heart.”

Biden referred to his presidency as “the honor of my life” in his speech.

“William Butler Yeats wrote, ‘Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, And say my glory was I had such friends.’ Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.,” he said.

As I look at such friends, it has been an honor to serve as President of the United States.

Biden will leave office on January 20, 2025, as the oldest U.S. president.

Donald Trump, the president-elect who won 2024’s presidential election by a wide margin against Vice President Kamala Harri, will assume office in Washington DC on January 20, 2025.
