Karine Jean Pierre, White House Press Secretary, says that Republicans are responsible for the carjacking of Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, in Washington, D.C., Monday night.
That’s right. The fact that the District of Columbia has been run by Democrats is not important; it’s the Republicans in Congress who are to blame.
Can you guess the reason? Jean-Pierre says that the Republicans’ fault lies in their opposition to Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
Jean-Pierre was asked by reporters on Wednesday for a White House statement about the carjacking. They also wanted to know if Joe Biden spoke with Cuellar and what this incident meant in terms of crime in the District. Jean-Pierre confirmed Biden had spoken with Cuellar on that particular day and launched into a verbal salad about Republicans opposing Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
Fox News White House correspondent Doocy was prompted to follow up on this nonsensical answer.
“Well, I suppose the first question would be: What are you going do to blame Republicans for? Doocy asked, “Isn’t D.C. ruled by Democrats?”
“I will speak about what the president has done, correct? Jean-Pierre started by saying, “The President has been very direct about what he’s done to ensure that communities are safe.” “The American Rescue Plan – not one Republican in Congress has voted for it. Not one. “There were billions in that plan — in that act, to ensure that communities across the nation got funding so they could hire more police officers in order to keep their community safe.”
She added, “Republicans did not have anything to do with it.” “They did not have anything to do with that,” she added. “They chose not to vote for the American Rescue Plan.” “It’s a simple fact.”
Jean-Pierre never realized that the American Rescue Plan was passed, so her argument is irrelevant. Doocy also noticed this.
“If President Biden’s policy is helping to reduce crime, would he feel comfortable if someone borrowed his Corvette and parked it overnight on the streets of Southeast D.C.?”
Jean-Pierre responded, “I won’t get into hypotheticals.” I’m going to focus on the facts of what this president has done during his presidency.
The left is never willing to acknowledge that the areas with the highest crime rates in our country are Democratic strongholds. No matter what legislation or gun control measures are put in place to combat violent crime, these areas will remain the hotspots of crime in America.
Doocy was not done with her yet.
He asked, “If a Congressman isn’t safe on the streets in the nation’s capital who is?”
She began by saying, “Look, we are grateful and relieved to know that the Congressman — congressman was unharmed.” “We know what communities across the country are going through, not just D.C. This is why the President took early action in his administration to complete the American Rescue Plan without the assistance of Republicans.”
“That’s why every time he puts forward his budget, he makes sure there are billions of dollars to deal with crime,” she continued. “That’s just a fact. All you have to look at is what the President has been able to do these past two years. There’s always going to be work — more work to be done. But the fact is, the President has taken action.”
She had no answer.
