Donald Trump, the former president, distanced himself on Monday from the controversial Republican North Carolina Lieutenant Governor. Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor and also a Mark Robinson, visited three North Carolina cities to promote the early voting initiative of the state.

He was asked whether he would encourage supporters to continue supporting Robinson during the campaign on Monday, but he refused to commit to supporting the embattled GOP candidate.

Trump told reporters that he was not aware of the current state of the race. “I’ve never seen it.”

Robinson faces a difficult battle to win the gubernatorial election after CNN published an explosive report last month about his comments made on pornographic sites.

CNN reported that Robinson had called himself a “black Nazi”, and had made crude remarks on the message board of a pornography site about civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. Robinson has filed a $50,000,000 defamation suit against the television network.

Trump’s endorsement of the lieutenant governor helped him win his primary race, despite his controversial remarks about women, the LGBT Community, and other minorities. Trump had praised Robinson before the CNN report and compared him with Martin Luther King Jr.

Robinson is no longer on the campaign trail with Trump or J.D., the running mate of the former President. Vance (R – OH). Ted Budd, a Republican Senator from North Carolina, spoke before Trump’s speech at the Greenville rally.

Democrats tried to link Trump to Robinson to flip the state blue for the first time since 2008. But polls show the former president still leads Vice President Kamala Harris by a wide margin in the Tar Heel State.

Trump will also visit Concord on Monday night to meet with religious leaders. He appeared in Asheville earlier this week, touring the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

Trump also thanked voters at the Greenville rally for breaking the early voting record in the state.

In the state where Trump needs to win, more than 1,000,000 votes have already been cast. This will help to bolster Trump’s campaign and enable him to defeat Harris.

Trump noted that this record was set after Helene’s devastation. “Now, this is people who lost their homes. They lost family members in some cases. Yet, they still set records for early voting.”
