President Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) in her campaign for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who announced she will not seek reelection.

In a post on Truth Social Saturday, Trump praised Hinson as a “winner” and “a wonderful person” who has “always delivered for Iowa.” He added that she would be “an outstanding senator” and offered his “complete and total endorsement.”

The endorsement follows support from Senate Republican leaders a day earlier. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.) both backed Hinson on Friday, describing her as a strong conservative and a reliable ally of the party.

Hinson, who was first elected to the U.S. House in 2020 after flipping a Democratic-held seat, formally launched her Senate bid shortly after Ernst announced her retirement. The open Iowa seat is expected to be a key contest in the 2026 cycle, with Republicans aiming to defend and potentially expand their Senate majority.
