Embarrassing Blunders: Democrats’ Low Points During Hur’s Testimony

On Capitol Hill, Democrats had a bad Tuesday. They simultaneously claimed that the Hur Report absolved Joe Biden from any criminal acts while calling the report a partisan hit-job.

The hearing did not go as planned and the participants repeatedly embarrassed themselves to undermine former Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on Joe Biden mishandling classified documents.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., clearly expected another answer when he asked Hur: “At any time during your investigation, had you any reason to suspect that President Biden lied about anything to you?”

Hur responded, “I address in my report a response that the president gave us to a question which we had asked him and which we considered to be unreliable.”

Oops. It didn’t work out as planned

Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) He insisted that this was all about aid for Ukraine.

Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., thinks that he is asking Hur an evasive question when he asks him if he is a Federalist Society member. It gets worse from there for Johnson as Hur corrects him for accusing of him being partisan.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), whom we all recall was expelled from the House Intelligence Committee because of his relationship with a Chinese snoop, insists Hur can’t establish his credibility until he rejects an appointment by a president that doesn’t exist.

Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., appeared to be in tears as he tried to defend Joe Biden. He said, “To be President, you must have values. You need to understand what America’s values are and how they need to be maintained to keep the world peaceful and safe.” “It’s about dealing with Ukraine and dealing with people who are difficult, like Netanyahu in Israel, to get things done the right way. Joe Biden is the man who does that.

Is there any connection between this and Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents? Nope. Is this all about defending Biden in an election year, or is it something else? Yup.

Do you still think Cohen is a good guy? Nope. He was just starting. He mentioned Social Security and Medicare as “important institutions” that helped seniors, not senile individuals, although he seemed to be unaware of the differences between Medicare and Medicaid.

Here’s the final blow. He said, “I object to that statement — he is not… Nobody suggests that he is senile — that’s disrespectful to senior people with any type of memory impairment. Many seniors suffer from memory impairment, but they are not senile. To call them senile is shameful. Joe Biden knows American values and is a good presenter.

I think this one is my favorite. House Democrats repeated the narrative throughout Hur’s testimony that the Hur Report “exonerated Joe Biden”. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash. ), a Democrat, was one of those who made this claim. Hur flatly contradicted it.

Jayapal stated that “this expensive and lengthy independent investigation has resulted in the complete exoneration for President Joe Biden of every document you have discussed in your report.” “You found that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the president had violated any laws regarding possession or retention of classified materials.”

Hur replied, “I have to make sure I remember a word you used: ‘exoneration’.” “That’s not a term that I use in my report, and it isn’t part of my job as a prosecutor.”

Jayapal insisted, “You exonerated Him.”

Hur clarified, “I didn’t exonerate him.” “That word is not in the report.”

Jayapal, embarrassed by his behavior, then interrupted him and said that it was now “her time.”
