On Saturday night, the rivalry between Atlanta Braves and New York Mets was reflected off-field as fans fought with one another.

The fight took place in the seats at the first-base line. On Twitter, a man wearing a Braves jersey was seen swinging at a Citi Field security officer trying to punch two men wearing Jacob deGrom jerseys.

One Mets fan came back swinging after the Braves fan failed on a punch and appeared to knock the man out. One person could be heard shouting, “F— him!”

Both games of Saturday’s doubleheader saw the Mets defeat the Braves.

Max Scherzer struck out 11 batters in New York’s second doubleheader. This led to New York’s 6-2 win in the evening game. Francisco Lindor had three RBIs in the afternoon game and the Mets won 8-5.

Scherzer spoke highly of the Braves, saying that they are a “great team, great lineup”. It’s amazing that we can show up, bring the energy, and go out and beat them. These wins are great, but it’s not the end. They know how great they can play and that they can get very hot.”

The Mets held a 5.5-game advantage in the NL East, improving to 69-39. For the first time since 2006, they are now 30 games ahead of.500.

Buck Showalter, Mets manager, won his 1,620th victory to surpass Ralph Houk and move up to 20th place on the all-time wins lists.
