The Mexican president Andres Manuel Obrador blames the Biden-Harris Administration for the wave of violence caused by cartels that is currently engulfing Sinaloa in Mexico.

According to Breitbart News, Obrador said that the arrest of Ismael Zambada Garcia (one of the top leaders in the Sinaloa Cartel) was the cause for the chaos occurring in the area.

Sinaloa is a cartel stronghold. Since Zambada Garcia was captured on July 25, 2024, the state has been engulfed in violence. The Chapitos faction, loyal to the former cartel leader Joaquin Guzman (aka El Chapo), has clashed with Zambada Garcia’s supporters. This has resulted in a significant escalation of violence.

Unofficial estimates suggest that the number of deaths is likely to be much higher. Lopez Obrador replied, “Of course, they are” when asked if the U.S. was responsible for the violence. He also argued that “the U.S. must internalize the fact that they cannot act in this way without considering Mexico’s government.”

Lopez Obrador said that the U.S. Department of Justice had an agreement with the Chapitos so that Joaquin Guzman Lopez would surrender and capture Zambada. The Mexican politician asked why the USDOJ had changed Ovidio’s detention status, who was a member of the Chapitos at the time his brother was helping to capture Zambada.

Lopez Obrador stated that the decision to take this action in Sinaloa was made by those who took it. In Sinaloa, we did not have the same violence as we do now.

According to the Justice Department, Zambada Garcia was arraigned in Brooklyn, New York on September 13.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “El Mayo is the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel and the leader. He has been accused of overseeing a multibillion-dollar conspiracy to flood American cities with narcotics including deadly fentanyl.” El Mayo was accused of leading and building “the Sinaloa Cartel network of assassins and traffickers who are responsible for kidnapping, murdering, and importing deadly quantities of fentanyl and heroin into the United States.”

Garland said that the cartel is not just limited to Mexico. In June, US authorities arrested 36 people who were linked to the cartel’s drug trafficking network. The operation, which covered multiple states including California, Arizona, and Oregon, led to the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Garland, in a press release at the time, said that “the Justice Department has dealt another blow to Sinaloa Cartel” and its associates.

This is on top of previous seizures suspected to be related to the same drug distribution and smuggling ring. This is enough to kill millions of people. While methamphetamine might be produced locally, fentanyl cocaine, and heroin are imported from across the border.

Border Patrol officers were involved in this arrest, which indicates that Homeland Security was involved in the investigation. The Justice Department is expected to be involved in the case as it moves forward.

The U.S. authorities have been concerned by the drug trafficking that is being carried out by Mexican cartels. Fentanyl is a major cause of drug overdoses in the United States. It’s smuggled in and mixed with common street drugs. Many people who overdose don’t know they have ingested it.
