Three people armed with guns came to the aid of a robber, who pointed his.45 at an employee at a North Georgia convenience shop.
According to the Ellijay Police Department Shawn Sutton was with Melody Sutton when they arrived at the Ideal Mart on Old Northcutt Road around 6:30 p.m. Shawn Sutton entered the store presuming he was a customer while Melody Sutton waited inside the car.
According to police, Shawn Sutton pretended that he was purchasing an energy drink, then pulled on a pair of women’s panties around his neck. Then, he demanded money from behind the counter.
Sutton didn’t win the good guy winning a gun jackpot.
It would surprise you to learn that there were actually three people in the shop at once, one pumping gasoline and one inside. All three had guns and were willing to fire the trigger to correct the situation.
Police claim that one customer was carrying a concealed weapon legally, but another customer ran to the vehicle and grabbed his gun.
The suspect attempted to leave the store, but the third customer arrived with his gun “to assist”.
Police also stated that the first customer had instructed all other customers to not shoot the suspect after he was disarmed.
Police stated that the suspect was instructed to get on the ground by one officer after he attempted to flee from cops. Police claimed that the officer used a Taser and took the suspect into custody.
Police also stated that Melody Sutton (the suspect’s wife) was taken into custody without incident by other officers.
Shawn Sutton, according to police, is facing charges of armed theft and aggravated assault.
Melody Sutton faces charges of armed robbery. WSB-TV reported.
Police stated that Suttons was being held without bond at Gilmer County Adult Detention Center.
Police stated that all customers were legally allowed to carry guns.
