Recently, the Texas Democratic border judge invited President Joe Biden to his region to discuss Title 42 and related policies. The Texas politician has mostly avoided speaking out about the border issues.
Judge Richard Cortez wrote to the President explaining that Hidalgo County was at an unique crossroads of national security and economic considerations.
Cortez “imploded” Biden to travel to Mexico in the letter. He also agreed to the recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ruling that Title 42 was not necessary.
Cortez wrote that hospitals were operating at maximum capacity during the pandemic, which lasted for many months. He also explained that severe economic disruptions occurred in the region.
Cortez’s email comes weeks after McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos (R) raised concern about Title 42 increasing the number of asylum seekers and migrants allowed into his city.
