The words that leaders and media use can change the course of events.
This was evident in the poor media coverage of the Gaza hospital bombing, where they promoted Hamas propaganda and riots at U.S. & Israeli embassies. The media did not seem to care if the information was accurate or if it would have an impact on world events.
Now we have anti-Israel/pro-Hamas people ripping down the flyers of the people kidnapped by the terrorists from Israel. Flyers are put up in order to draw attention to the fact that some of these people are Americans. The media’s and politicians’ response to kidnappings will have a major impact on whether the kidnapped persons are rescued and how they deal with the rabid propagandist propaganda.
The Washington Post’s description of a mother being kidnapped with her two children is being attacked on social media, and for good reason.
Interesting choice of words from Washington Post. “detained” 🤔 pic.twitter.com/kiuKHPjIwo

According to WaPo’s report, Hadas’s Kalderon children were “detained” as if the bus was running late and they could not get back on time. How can they minimize the evils of kidnapping in such a way? They wonder why Americans don’t trust them anymore when they write such things. Denial like this is what helps those who want to deny the events that have occurred here.
This is a choice. This is an editorial choice by Washington Post.
You wanted proof @farhip, this is it. https://t.co/dNhWQEJdca

Stephen Miller called out Paul Farhi of the WaPo for his disgusting behavior, describing it as an “editorial decision.”
Then he asked for an explanation as to why the person did it, not just a sneaky edit.
Never asked for “proof.” I asked to name names. Big difference.
— Paul Farhi (@farhip) October 20, 2023
What happened next? You may have guessed. Here was the sneaky edit.
Update – Stealth caption change. So would you like to explain why this happened? @farhip https://t.co/AkOj612f0i pic.twitter.com/NtO2uQL4jj

.@farhip @ErikWemple
You guys should probably explain why the first caption was allowed to be published, who wrote it, which editor approved it.Then you guys should explain why it was changed, which editor approved the change and why.

Are there any chances that these characters will give us a real answer? Chances of getting a real answer from these characters? They’ll probably try to avoid it for a while until the news cycle changes.
It’s not by accident that they live in denial. We’ve seen this before with the WaPo Philip Bump. Who can forget his saying that he didn’t understand what Hunter Biden meant when he said he gave his father half of his income and is trying to spin the Chinese cable listing Joe Biden as a beneficiary?
The Washington Post is here. Democracy dies in denial. It’s not a bug, but a feature.
