Jamaal Bowman was charged with a crime on Wednesday after he pulled a fire alarm at the Capitol just before a vote to avoid a government shutdown. Surveillance cameras captured the far-left Congressman pulling the fire alarm on Capitol grounds just before a vote to avert a government shutdown.

Bowman surrendered himself to law enforcement on Thursday morning, admitting to the charges.

Bowman is expected to pay a fine for a misdemeanor he committed only once. He will not be sent to jail. He repeated his claim that he did not intend to disrupt Congress’s proceedings by raising the alarm.

The word “fire alarm” is clearly written in large letters on the handle that he pulled. It should not have been a question of confusion. It would have been extremely difficult to prove his state of thought.

Next up will be the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives can now propose resolutions again, with the GOP having finally elected a new Speaker. Bowman will almost certainly face censure because of his actions.

Bowman is one of the most controversial members of Congress. During his brief tenure, he has been heckling Republicans and voting against a recent resolution condemning Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel.
